Eating Disorders
In today’s day and age of social media, both adults and adolescents are at risk of developing an eating disorder. Although eating disorders are serious mental health conditions and not diets, they often develop from one’s desire to be think. With the unhealthy standards of beauty in modern society, both adults and adolescents find themselves struggling to be as thin as models, celebrities, and even online influencers.
The stress and pressure to fit in and succeed may also lead to a desire to control one’s food consumption and weight, leading to an unhealthy relationship with food. Treatment for an eating disorder needs to address more than just eating habits- it also needs to address the distorted thoughts and behaviors accompanying the disorder.
At Growth Extended, we have staff members who specialize in treating eating disorders, including Anorexia, Bulimia and Binge Eating Disorder.
Mental Health Disorders
At Growth Extended, we have treatment programs using the latest evidence-based treatment modalities for mental health conditions including Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and many other conditions.
We have experienced clinicians who develop treatment plans for each client in our care to overcome their mental health conditions and learn healthy coping skills and stress relief techniques. We are known in the industry for providing incomparable mental health treatment.
Substance Abuse
Teenagers who abuse drugs and alcohol are at risk of struggling with addiction for the rest of their lives. Moreover, adults who struggle with substances typically began using as a teenager. Our substance abuse treatment program, overseen by a multidisciplinary team of addiction professionals, helps teenagers and adults to recognize the underlying issues and triggers that fuel their substance abuse. They learn healthy coping mechanisms and stress relief techniques, as well as follow the proven 12-step plan for treating substance abuse. We also offer relapse prevention plans and a discharge strategy to reduce the risk of relapse. Our clients can overcome their substance abuse problems and live a successful, sober life.
Co-Occurring Disorder
Eating disorders, mental health disorders, and substance abuse have a high rate of co-morbidity or occurring simultaneously. In order to fully recover, all underlying and co-occurring conditions must be treated concurrently. For example, a person who is suffering from depression or anxiety may turn to drugs or alcohol to self-medicate. However, the relief from the drugs or alcohol will only be short-lived, so he or she will once again turn to a mood-altering substance, and soon become addicted. If only the addiction is treated, then he or she will still suffer from depression or anxiety and not know how to manage it without drugs or alcohol, leading to a relapse.
At Growth Extended, we have a multidisciplinary team of licensed professionals who can help with all co-occurring disorders at the same time. Our clients undergo comprehensive assessments to help us recognize all areas requiring help. We then create an individualized treatment program that provides the support necessary to overcome all problems.
